Chapter 8+

authenticate your life

Psychedelics are not just substances; they are teachers. They alter perception, cognition, and consciousness in a way that can unlock deep healing. Science tells us that substances like psilocybin, MDMA, and ketamine interact with neurotransmitters to promote neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to rewire itself. Clinical research has shown that psilocybin and ketamine can significantly reduce depression, even in cases where traditional antidepressants fail.

But what science doesn’t capture is the soul of the medicine.

Healing isn’t just about adjusting brain chemistry. It is about remembering. Remembering our connection to nature, to love, to the universe, and to ourselves. Each psychedelic carries a unique vibration, a specific purpose, and a way of guiding us back to what we have forgotten.

I have studied these medicines through research, but to truly understand them, I had to go beyond logic. I had to experience them, not just through science but through intuition.

Psychedelics and Plant Medicine for Mental Health: Science, Soul, and Remembering Who We Are

What Are Psychedelics and How Do They Support Mental Health?

Psilocybin: The Messenger Between Humans and Nature

Psilocybin is not just a substance; it is a bridge. It reconnects us to the earth, reminding us that we are nature, not separate from it.

I usually microdose psilocybin for its gentle support with depression. A microdose is subtle; it does not make you high, but it does create waves of energy moving through the body, opening blocked channels and clearing stagnation. It feels like a reset, like the body, mind, and soul are realigning to their natural rhythm.

How I Microdose Psilocybin

Each morning, I set an intention before taking a capsule containing:
 • Lion’s mane for brain function and neuroplasticity
 • Reishi, chaga, and turkey tail for immune and nervous system support
 • Lavender for calming the nervous system
 • 77 mg of psilocybin

I do not just take it and go about my day. I meditate with it. I listen to what it wants to show me. It guides me to the places in my body and energy field that are blocked, places where old patterns, fears, or grief have settled. From there, I gently coach myself back into alignment.

A Heroic Dose: Surrendering to the Medicine

When I finally did a heroic dose, a full psychedelic experience rather than a microdose, everything changed. Unlike microdosing, where I could still control the experience, this required complete surrender.

This is best done in nature. In that state, all I wanted was to merge with the earth, to be barefoot, to feel the dirt on my skin, and to bathe in the water. The desire to be one with the earth was overwhelming.

I have not quite gone full “naked in the forest,” but if I had been alone, I would have. Instead, I covered myself in Sedona’s red dirt, absorbing its energy into my skin. I remembered that nature is not just something outside of us. We are it. The trees, the soil, the rivers—this is us.

MDMA: The Heart Opener

My first experience with MDMA was on my forty-ninth birthday, and I had no idea what to expect. It was medical-grade, taken with full intention.

At first, I felt a flush, almost like a gentle niacin flush, and a brief wave of nausea. But then, something incredible happened.

My heart opened.

Not just a little, but wide.

I became love. Not in an abstract way, but in a way that felt like my natural state, like this was how I was supposed to feel all the time. Painful memories and old wounds that had been weighing me down for years simply washed away. I saw them for what they were, stories I had been carrying but no longer needed.

MDMA reminded me that forgiveness is easy when love is fully activated.

Ketamine: The Portal to the Universe

As the MDMA wore off that night, I took ketamine, and everything expanded even further.

If psilocybin connects you to the earth, ketamine connects you to the universe.

Sitting across from a friend, we locked eyes, and suddenly, I saw her soul. Not just in this life, but in hundreds of lifetimes. I saw our soul family and the lifetimes we had shared, the times we had come together, separated, and reunited.

I truly understood soul families in that moment. We come into this life thinking we are alone, but we are not. We incarnate with people we are meant to journey with, some for a lifetime, some only for moments, but always with purpose.

I had always felt deep loneliness in this life. I have many friends, but I do not have a partner I call home, and I am not close with my biological family. That night, ketamine healed one of the darkest parts of my soul, the part that had believed I was alone.

I wasn’t alone. I never had been.

Ketamine for Nervous System Healing

Weeks later, after a trip to visit family, I found myself in deep freeze mode, stuck in a trauma response, unable to unlock my nervous system. I tried everything—journaling, meditation, sound healing—but nothing was working.

So, I signed up for at-home ketamine therapy.

I started with a single nasal spray, just to learn how it felt. Unlike psilocybin, which comes in waves, ketamine was steady and smooth. I remained logical, connected, and able to ask my guides for insight.

That was when my grandfather appeared.

He showed me an energetic cord of anger that had been passed down through my mother’s side of the family, anger that was not mine. He told me I could give it back. So I did. And just like that, the weight lifted.

Later, Kauai, yes, the island itself, came to me. Every island has its own consciousness, and Kauai represents ohana, family. She healed my heart in a way that nothing else could.

The next day, I felt called to take two sprays. This time, something even deeper happened.

For the first time in my life, I experienced an hour and a half without anxiety.

I had not even realized how much anxiety I carried until it was gone. It was like living with a constant radio static at a seven out of ten, something I had just accepted as normal. And then, silence. Peace.

For the first time, I could breathe fully.

Three days later, I still felt like me again. No depression, no anxiety, just me.

Each Medicine Has Its Purpose

I have not done Ayahuasca yet, but that is next. For now, here is what I have learned.

If you feel disconnected from yourself and life, psilocybin helps you remember your connection to nature.

If your heart is closed and love feels distant, MDMA reactivates your natural state of love.

If you need a complete reset and your nervous system is locked in trauma, ketamine reminds you of your infinite self and restores balance.

Psychedelics are not for everyone, but for those who feel called, they can be profound tools for healing, remembering, and awakening.

As I continue this journey, I remain committed to learning, sharing, and helping others decode themselves, whether through psychedelics, energy work, or simply rediscovering the wisdom already within.
